About ToolMaple

A one-person tool site from Taiwan. Everything is calculated in your browser, what you type is not sent to this site's server, and no tool asks you to sign up.

What this is

ToolMaple is a small tool site built and maintained by one person. There are 56 tools here:

  • Symbols and special characters: a searchable picker plus focused pages for hearts, dividers and game nickname characters
  • Emoji and kaomoji: the current Unicode set with the version each emoji shipped in, and Japanese style text faces
  • Invisible characters: blank characters that survive a paste, with a note on which apps strip them
  • Text tools: fancy Unicode fonts for profiles, a word counter that counts the way each platform does, and a QR code generator
  • Everyday calculators: BMI, BMR, TDEE, body fat, due date, age, dates and time zones, percentages, units, and tips, sales tax and GPA for US readers
  • Developer and image tools: JSON, Base64, JWT, UUID, regex, hashes and passwords, plus image compression and conversion

Every page runs in your browser. There is no account and nothing to install, and what you type is not sent to this site’s server.

Why the site exists

The site opened on 2026-06-09, and it started with a game. MapleStory was my childhood favorite, and the first tool was a player that collects the background music of twenty classic towns in one place, because digging those tracks out of YouTube every time got old. A town tour, an item encyclopedia, a drop lookup and a job line filter followed.

Writing a working tool in an evening turned out to be a good hobby, so the everyday utilities I actually used came next.

Who runs it

One full-stack engineer in Taiwan, Sean Huang, working on this outside a day job. Every tool here was chosen, specified, built and reviewed by the same person. Before a page ships I run it myself and check the edge cases against whatever standard the page claims to follow. You can reach me at hello@toolmaple.com, or through the contact page.

Editorial policy

  • Every tool gets used before it ships: I run each one myself before it goes live, checking that the math is right, that the boundary cases behave, and that the page is usable on a phone.
  • Claims name their source: where a tool follows a standard or an official threshold, the article points at the original document rather than at another blog.
  • Mistakes get fixed: when a reader reports a wrong result, or a standard is revised, the page is corrected. Significant changes are noted on the tool page.
  • Nothing unverified gets written: if I cannot confirm a term, a rule or a date, it stays off the page.

Privacy and how the site pays for itself

The site uses Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to see which tools get used and where people get stuck, and Google AdSense pays the hosting bill. What you type is processed in your browser and is not sent to this site’s server. Clarity never captures the contents of input boxes, and the tool area of every page, input and results, is masked from its recordings as well. The full list of third parties and how to turn off ad personalization are on the privacy policy.

Common questions

Does any of this cost money?

No. Every tool is free, there is no account and there is no paid tier. Google AdSense covers the running costs.

Do you record what I type?

This site does not: there is no account and no database, calculations happen in your browser, and your input is not sent to this site’s server. A few tools keep a history, such as your BMI measurements, in your browser’s local storage. Clearing site data removes it. What the third-party analytics, session recording and ads collect is on the privacy policy.

Can I use the results commercially?

Yes, the output is yours to use for anything. The site itself, meaning the articles and the interface, stays copyrighted. Email first if you want to quote a page at length or embed a tool.

Found a bug, or want a tool that is not here?

Write to hello@toolmaple.com or use the contact page. One person reads the mail, so replies are not instant, but nothing goes unread.

Why the name ToolMaple?

It is a nod to MapleStory, the game I grew up on. The maple leaf logo and the pixel floor in the footer are from that era. The name reads both ways on purpose: maple leaf tools, and MapleStory tools.

Are you affiliated with MapleStory?

No. This site has no business relationship with Nexon, the developer of MapleStory, or with any regional publisher. It is a fan project. Item art and game data belong to their original owners, and this site claims no rights over them.
