The short version
ToolMaple has no accounts and no database. Every tool calculates in your browser, and what you type is not sent to this site’s server. Three things are worth knowing: some tools keep a history on your device, a few write what you type into the page address, and the site loads third-party services for analytics, session recording and ads. Each is described below.
What this site never does
- No registration and no login
- No collection of names, email addresses, phone numbers or other identifying details
- No selling, renting, trading or sharing of user data
Data kept in your browser (local storage)
Some tools save a history in your browser’s localStorage so it is still there next time:
- Calculation history: seven tools keep your most recent inputs exactly as you entered them (the last five each, fifteen for the mortgage calculator): the compound interest calculator, random picker, JSON formatter and regex tester, and the Taiwanese salary, mortgage and receipt lottery tools. That includes full JSON documents, regex patterns with their test strings, and lists of names. The JSON formatter and the random picker save when you press the button; the others save about a second after you stop typing.
- Receipt numbers that did not win: the Taiwanese receipt lottery tool automatically keeps up to 50 numbers you checked that did not win, so you can check them against the next draw. The oldest drop off after 50.
- BMI measurements: the height, weight, age and BMI of each entry you save with “Log this measurement” on the BMI calculator, up to eight entries.
- Recents and preferences: your time zone city list, the emoji, symbols, kaomoji, hearts, blank characters and dividers you copied recently, the background music volume and mute setting, your light or dark theme choice, and the last exchange rates the currency converter fetched (used if it cannot reach the server).
All of it lives on your device and none of it is visible to me. The histories, the receipt numbers and the BMI log can be deleted on their own pages. To remove everything at once, clear the site data in your browser settings.
What is written into the page address
A few tools write their current settings into the address bar so that the page can be bookmarked or the link shared; what you type yourself goes into a link only when you press share:
- QR code generator: the mode and error-correction level. The text you type and the network name are not written until you press Copy share link, which puts them into that link in plain text. The Wi-Fi password is never put into the link.
- Countdown timer: the target date and time. The event name goes into a link only when you press Copy share link; the birthday never does.
- Color converter and CSS gradient generator: the color values, the angle and the gradient type.
- MapleStory quest, drop and item lookups: the filters and the lookup mode. Text typed into the search box is not written.
- Mortgage calculator: a link carrying the loan terms is created only when you press the share button.
Anything in the address stays in your browser history. When you reload the page or open a shared link, the address reaches Vercel’s request log. Microsoft Clarity records the page address, parameters included, and ad requests normally carry the page address as well. The address sent to Google Analytics has the parameters removed. Treat a QR code link copied before October 20, 2026 that contains a Wi-Fi password as you would the password itself; links copied since then leave the password out.
Third-party services
The site uses the services below, each of which collects data under its own policy:
- Vercel: the hosting platform. Vercel may log requests (IP address, timestamp, user agent and requested URL) for DDoS protection and performance monitoring.
- Google Analytics 4: counts visits, page views, traffic sources, time on page and tool interactions, such as how many times a copy button was pressed, which kind of character it was, and settings like a password length or how many items were generated. It never receives what you typed, generated or copied, and the page address it receives has the parameters removed. GA4 does not store full IP addresses by default, and no advanced identity features are enabled on this property. See the Google privacy policy.
- Google AdSense: ad revenue keeps the site running. When you see an ad, Google may use cookies and similar technologies to personalize it, under its advertising policies. You can turn personalization down or off in Google Ad Settings.
- Google Search Console: used to monitor how the site performs in Google Search. It never touches visitor data.
- Microsoft Clarity: a session recording and heatmap service, used to find where people get stuck. It records clicks, scrolling, the page address and what the page displays. Three things are certain:
- Whatever you type into an input box or a text area is masked by Clarity in every mode and is not uploaded (see Clarity’s masking documentation).
- On every tool page the tool area (inputs, results, and the pop-up calendars, drop-down menus and detail dialogs) carries an extra mask, so what you type and what is calculated is not recorded. Fixed content such as the article and the FAQ is recorded as usual.
- maplestory.io: used only by the MapleStory tools. Searching and matching happen locally in your browser, so your keywords are not sent to it. Three things do reach maplestory.io: item, monster, NPC and map images load directly from it; the background music on the BGM and town tour pages streams from it; and opening one item, town or monster requests its details from the public API by ID number (typing an item ID into the item lookup uses that same number). Your browser makes these requests directly, so maplestory.io sees your IP address and browser details. Nothing about your query is stored here.
- api.hyrule-compendium.com: used only by the two Zelda compendium pages. The entry data is baked into the page when the site is built, but the entry images load directly from that API, so your browser contacts it when you view those pages.
- Exchange rates: the currency converter asks this site’s own endpoint for rates, and the server fetches them from the Bank of Taiwan (or from open.er-api.com when that is unreachable). The request carries neither your amount nor your currencies.
- Image addresses you write yourself: if the text in the Markdown preview contains an image address, your browser loads the image from that address.
Children
This site is not designed for children under 13. No personal data is knowingly collected from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has used the site in a way that concerns you, write in through the contact page and it will be dealt with.
Where the site is run from, and what that means for you
The site is operated by one person in Taiwan and is hosted on Vercel, which serves it from data centers around the world. That means a few practical things, stated plainly rather than as a claim of legal compliance:
- There is nothing here to request or delete: no account, no profile and no database of visitors. The only data about you that this site holds is on your own device, in local storage, and clearing your browser data erases it.
- The third parties answer for their own data: Google and Microsoft decide what they collect through their analytics and ad products, and their own policies and privacy controls, linked above, are where you exercise rights over that data.
- Nothing is sold or shared for money: if you are in California or a state with a similar law, note that no personal information is sold or shared for cross-context behavioral advertising by this site.
- Ad personalization is yours to switch off: this site runs no consent banner of its own, so if you would rather not see personalized ads, turn them off in Google Ad Settings and the change applies wherever Google serves you ads.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, for example because a new analytics tool is added or the AdSense setup is adjusted, the last updated date at the top of this page changes with it. Checking back now and then is a good idea.
